BACKGROUND and OVERVIEW

Welcome to a unique programme – a children and parents yoga summer retreat. Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon is organizing a residential six days, seven nights yoga camp, a retreat meant for children between age 5 and 12. This wonderful programme, with parents in tow, goes back many decades, with an idea to inculcate yoga to people from an early age.

The kids and parents yoga retreat combines the discipline of yoga and the fun of a camp. The programme allows children to understand the principles of vegetarianism, respect for all religions, develop a love and respect for nature. Children are able to identify with the inner self within a group setting by practicing yoga. Yoga asana, meditation, breathing, relaxation, yoga based activities, games, chanting and lectures are part of the daily routine. There is a day off, where parents and children can also visit nearby places of interest.

LOCATION

Palampur, at a height of 1219 mts., is a main spot in the beautiful valley surrounded by tea gardens and pine trees, 30 kilometers from the popular tourist destination Dharamsala. It is surrounded by the Dhauladhar range - mountains and Himalayan peaks are visible in the foreground.
The overall feeling is of an ashram, not a spa, or a resort. The Ashram has comfortable rooms, fairly modern and clean bathrooms, two large asana halls overlooking the mountains, a traditional dining hall and a huge lawn for children to play in nature.

    •The four paths of Yoga: KarmaYoga (selfless service); Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion, including attendance at devotional rituals); Raja Yoga (mind control), and Jnana Yoga (the path of wisdom and realization)

  5. Yogic Diet and Nutrition
    • Influence of diet on the mind
    • Proper diet
    • Ethical, health and spiritual reasons for vegetarianism

    • Twelve-step guideline to meditation

MEET THE TEACHERS

Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon has a teacher body of over 100 active teachers. Each of them has completed his or her International Yoga Teachers’ Training course certified by Yoga Alliance to teach yoga anywhere in the world. This teacher body, growing and maturing as each day goes by, is one of the largest pools of qualified yoga teachers of the Sivananda system in the world, practicing and teaching together at one centre, online and onsite.

Our greatest assets are the faculty who teach the retreat. They are some of the very best in the world, vastly experienced, senior, wise, charismatic, articulate, passionate, and highly motivated in sharing knowledge.

PREREQUISITES

This retreat is open to all students who wish to deepen their knowledge and application of some of the highest teachings of yoga. Participants do not need to be yoga teachers. Mastery of any yoga practice is not necessary… only your sincere desire for knowledge and your commitment to personal growth.

HOW TO APPLY

Please fill in our online application form. Kindly also submit a minimum, non-refundable deposit of 20% of the course fee (plus 18% GST), to reserve your place in the course.
